Position Summary:
The primary role of the Charleston Grill Host Person is to ensure all guests are greeted and seated in a friendly and courteous manner using appropriate procedures, in accordance with The Charleston Place. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greeting and welcoming guests to the venue
· Operate reservation software program.
· Answering phone calls and responding to guest questions
· Providing a warm greeting to customers upon entering the restaurant
· Control heavy volume at the restaurant’s entrance
· Attend to and anticipate guest needs.
· Familiarization with menu.
· Patron rotation of server sections
· Escorting guests to the proper table
· Provide a warm, sincere fair well to guests leaving the restaurant.
· Continuous communication with the kitchen informing them of cover counts and VIPS.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of hotel property.
· Proper phone etiquette
· Have knowledge of regular guests and their regular table
· Assist manager with seating chart!
· Ability to handle large volumes of people.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Prior experience in a guest service role
· Hotel experience in a high-end establishment, upscale restaurant or luxury resort preferred
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
· Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds.
· Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
· The role may require extended periods of time on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.
· Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Concierge activities.
· Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.
