The maintenance technician works within the Maintenance department on preventive maintenance & other maintenance activities within the manufacturing facility.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for making repairs and working with preventive programs while ensuring these functions are performed in a manner to meet FDA & USDA guidelines within a food manufacturing facility.
Duties and Day – to Day Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:
· Ensure maintenance operations are performed and ensure they are performed within FDA, USDA and CJF guidelines with regards to any maintenance activity in food contact areas.
· Must be able to perform daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance activities in the absence of other employees.
· Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
· Must be able to perform water testing on boiler and cooling tower & report results to the company holding service contract.
· Must have/gain a working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration system and to work with the contracted service company for ammonia system.
· Must be familiar with Work Order processes and programs.
· Must be knowledgeable with manufacturing equipment and be able to assist when repairs are required.
· To be able to inform them of issues or concerns. To assist in resolution of problems.
· To have equipment knowledge, basic electrical, and mechanical knowledge.
· Other duties as required.
Minimum Training, Education and Experience Requirements:
· High School Diploma. Vocational training a plus, in one or more trades.
· Experience in maintenance or vocational type industry.

· Standing for long periods of time.
· Ability to work in a cold & hot environment as needed by the demands of the particular tasks or assignments.
· Ability to work in food contact areas during production shut down and make repairs quickly, efficiently & ensure food contact or food is not subject to risk of contamination.
· Ability to lift in excess of 20 lbs. as required.
· Ability to climb ladders, climb stairs to roof and attic and work in confined spaces.
