Chemung County Health Department is actively seeking a WIC Nutritionist.

Typical Responsibilities Include:
Assesses nutritional needs and prepares dietary care plans for participants;
Counsels participants regarding WIC program approved foods and nutritional needs;
Provides for the review of nutrient needs of participants as affected by medical regimens, drug therapy or physical limitations and determines eligibility for participation in the WIC program;
Plans and conducts in-service training programs for WIC program staff, local agencies, and interested community groups;
Conducts individual and group counseling for participants on maternal and child health nutrition and advises on dietary modifications;
Plans and evaluates educational methods and materials appropriate to the educational level and cultural needs of participants;
Participates in conferences and meetings pertaining to nutrition and the WIC program;
Advises participants and staff on available food and nutrition community resources;
Establishes working relationships with local health, social service and education agencies to further program objectives;
Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to the work.
