What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator (Construction) position at Chief of Staff KC?
Safety Program Implementation:
- Assist in the development and execution of site specific safety plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations on all construction projects.
- Support the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
Site Inspections and Hazard Identification:
- Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify hazards and assess risks.
- Monitor work areas for potential safety issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure that all workers have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is being used properly.
Incident and Accident Reporting:
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses onsite, and report findings to management.
- Prepare accident investigation reports, including root cause analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Track and maintain documentation of all safety incidents, inspections, and corrective actions taken.
Safety Training:
- Conduct safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors.
- Provide on the job safety training, including equipment safety, fall protection, and hazard communication.
- Maintain knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety standards and communicate any changes to the workforce.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Ensure all safety documentation is completed and filed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain records of safety meetings, training, inspections, and incidents.
- Assist with OSHA inspections and ensure all required paperwork and reports are submitted in a timely manner.
Promote Safety Culture:
- Act as a resource for employees and supervisors regarding safety concerns.
- Encourage and promote a safety first attitude and awareness throughout the construction site.
- Organize and lead regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to keep the team informed of current safety practices.
Skills:
- Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control methods in construction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with the construction team.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic construction environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in construction environments such as commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., CHST, STSC) are a plus.
- Ability to foster teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
- OSHA 30 certification
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
