Job Summary
Physical Therapist Assistants provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. PTAs provide the treatment that PTs establish appropriate. They collect data, such as goniometric measurements and manual muscle test results, which are important for tracking progress. PTAs cannot make changes to the overall plan of care; they are able to make treatment adjustments to accommodate a patient during a session.
Responsibilities
- Assists with evaluation and provides individualized treatment to resident to maintain, improve or restore their ability to move and physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in residents under PT supervision. Treatments might include passive range of motion, gait training, functional training, transfer training, and therapeutic exercise for strength, flexibility, and balance.
- Participates in developing in-service programs for staff development. Serves as a consultant on interdisciplinary teams.
- Follows and assist with the development of facility policies and procedure. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities to contain cost and improve services.
- Assist with Individual Personal Program (IPP) and Individual Educational Program (IEP)plans annually and as needed for each resident based on individually assessed needs.
- Recommends modifications and changes in the resident`s therapy treatments as indicated.
- Provide accurate and reliable PT services documentation within timely manner.
- Responsible for reporting any change of a resident`s condition to the Children`s Habilitation Center leadership team. Coordinates and assist with care as directed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, meetings, and in-services as needed.
- Serve on, participate in, and / or attend various committees as required
- Train / advice team and family members regarding implementation of therapy plans, adaptive devices, and positioning.
- Collaborate with other disciplines regarding resident`s care.
- Abides by CHC policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
