What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Director, Bergen County Higher Education position at Children's Aid and Family Services, Inc.?
Function: To direct the Bergen County Higher Education Addition Prevention Consortium (BC HEAP), provide guidance to Bergen County’s 5 colleges in the processes of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), and implement evidence based, environmental prevention strategies to reduce the prevalence of substance misuse among students between the ages of 17 and 24 years old.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a public health field with 5 years of successful experience implementing evidence-based prevention programs.
- Preferred: Masters level professional with CPS or CHES certification or Masters in Higher Education/Student Affairs.
Skills and Knowledge required:
· Solid understanding of higher education institutions and public health including substance use prevention.
· Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrates sensitivity and tact in interpersonal relations.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including well-developed public speaking skills.
· Proven ability to network with community resources, build relationships and create community partnerships.
· Works effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
· Local travel is required with possible long distance travel for conferences.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and leads the BC HEAP Consortium;
- Works with BC HEAP members to conduct needs assessments, build capacity, develop a strategic plan, implement strategies and evaluate effectiveness;
- Facilitates BC HEAP meetings;
- Provides technical assistance for the college task forces established at each institution.
- Oversees the planning and implementation of prevention related activities;
- Promotes the vision of the BC HEAP and its membership;
- Ensures BC HEAP efforts are culturally competent;
- Ensures compliance with reporting requirements and quality assurance standards;
- Prepares and submits progress reports and other pertinent reporting documents to funders;
- Maintains active, constructive relationships with the BC HEAP Consortium members as well as with a broad range of local and statewide organizations;
- Maintains current knowledge of evidence-based prevention programming and utilizes “best practices” in the delivery of services;
- Participates in relevant federal, state and community meetings.
