What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer / Purchasing Manager - Food Manufacturing position at Chocolove?
We are large chocolate company with a large production facility located in Boulder. We’re looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for negotiating with vendors for the purchase of all production materials, supplies and services used by the company while maintaining a safe, productive, and efficient chocolate factory and supporting the culture and shared values of Chocolove.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Recent Food Manufacturing - Purchasing Manager knowledge and experience
- Manages department scheduling, planning, performance, development and documentation
- Continually develops new supply sources with vendors
- Examines bids and makes awards
- Establishes account/credit and terms, reviews items received for correct costing and timeliness.
- Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period
- Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders
- Ensures all projects are completed on time and in accordance to specifications standards
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies
- Monitor expenses and control the budget for the purchasing department
- Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with U.S. laws
- Ensures compliance with regulations, industry standards, certifications and safety
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / REQIREMENTS
- Solid knowledge and experience with managing all aspects of the purchasing life cycle
- Strong analytical skills, multi-tasking skills and detail orientation
- Strong MircoSoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- Self-motivated, team oriented, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Results oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
- Solve problems using facts and personal judgment.
- React quickly in emergency situations and make sound decisions under stressful situations
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- B.S./B.A. degree in a business related field or equivalent experience
- Manufacturing / Production experience in the food industry preferred
- 5 years of purchasing experience preferred
