Responsibilities: The Principal shall oversee all academic aspects of Christ Chapel Academy lower or upper school. He/she shall model to staff, students, parents, and prospective school families the Christian values and attitudes expressed in the mission statement and the philosophy of this educational organization.
Overview: The Principal shall be a born-again Christian who feels called of God to work in a Christian educational setting. He/she shall be a college graduate, shall have completed post-graduate work in the area of educational administration, curriculum, special education, etc. and shall be eligible for Virginia, accrrediting certification as an administrator.
Contracted by: The Administrator, in coordination with the Advisory Board and elders of Christ Chapel.
Responsible to: The Administrator.
Supervises: The Christ Chapel Academy Lower or Upper School teaching staff and teachers’ assistants, and the Christ Chapel Academy administrative support staff.
Evaluation: The Principal will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s personnel evaluation policy and this job description. Details are found in the Staff Employee Handbook.
Qualifications: The principals shall have a minimum of a Masters of Art or Masters of Science from a recognized college or university or enrolled in a Masters or Doctorate program.
Required Personal Qualities:
The Principal shall:
1. Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
2. Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
3. Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40.
4. Be a member in good standing at a local, evangelical church, which has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith.
5. Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.
6. Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
Position Description - Essential Functions:
General: The Principal shall be charged with the oversight academic responsibilities and related details to ensure the ongoing operation of Christ Chapel Academy lower or upper school.
Reporting Relationships: The Principal reports directly to the Administrator, and maintains a cooperative coordination role with the school staff, church staff and elders to optimize program consistency and efficiency.
The Principal serves on the Christ Chapel Academy School Board as a voting member.
