What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Director position at Christian Care Assisted Living and Memory Care?
GENERAL NARATIVE DESCRIPTION:
The Wellness Director has responsibility of overseeing the standards of nursing practices for the facility’s nursing services of our Assisted Living and Memory Care. The DCMS participates with other members of nursing, the Director of Resident Care Staff and Development, administration, and facility staff in the development of patient care programs, policies and procedures to meet all requirements including ethical and legal concerns.
The Wellness Director responsible for the implementation of an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and appropriateness of nursing and other direct patient related care. Provide leadership and mentoring for nursing staff.
The Wellness Director will participate with governing officials, managerial staff, corporate staff, medical staff and other clinical leaders in the decision-making structures and processes of the corporation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and assists with design and implementation of patient care services with other departments
- Implements an effective, on-going program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment and services delivered to residents; ensuring the provision of nursing and nursing related services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial well-being of residents
- Implement and oversee the facility memory program, including create effective programming, supervising staff and programs, work with Director of Resident Care Staff and Development to develop memory program policies and procedures, Family Support meeting, Community and staff educational meeting, and marketing to families
- Do initial evaluations of prospective new residents
- Service planning and conferences with residents and families
- Establish a Falls Program, including referrals to therapy (and Homecare if appropriate) NuStep evaluations, Walking Club/exercise and monitor/evaluate all systems appropriate
- Evaluate and modify goals, objectives and organizational structures to provide the best nursing care services
- Holds nursing staff responsible for using the Christian Care chain of command
Qualifications
- Proven management and supervisory experience in healthcare settings
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, medical terminology, and HIPAA regulations
- Experience with PCC and medical records management
- Background in critical care, assisted living, or hospice care
- Understanding of physiology and resident's rights
- Ability to effectively manage shifts and lead nursing teams
