What are the responsibilities and job description for the Echo Cardiographer - Cardiology Diagnostics - Float position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Cardiology Diagnostics is seeking a full-time Echo Cardiographer from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at the University clinic.
Duties include the independent operation of Sonographic equipment and the performance and communication of the results of diagnostic examinations, using Sonography. Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, active certification by ARDMS in the specialty(ies) as appropriate or Certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International is required.
This position will begin employment at the University clinic with ability to travel to satelite locations i.e., Danville and Bloomington, as needed.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic Sonography examinations.
- Use cognitive Sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological and diagnostic information and images.
- Use independent judgment during the Sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Coordinate work schedule with department team lead and/or Coordinator and/or to assure workload coverage.
- Coordinate with office staff for adding on patients in an urgent manner and ensure the Cardiac Diagnostics Scheduler is aware for insurance prior authorization
- Confirm the reading of Echocardiograms their delivery to EMR in a timely manner.
- Assume responsibility for the safety and mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the Sonographer's care.
- Assist with the daily operations of the Sonographic laboratory.
- Maintain a daily log of patients that have been seen and complete billing forms.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, work area and adequate supplies.
- Participate in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
- Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals and referral or commercial agencies.
- Start IV’s for injections of contrast as necessary.
- Assist with appointment scheduling/rescheduling as needed.
- Assist with other Cardiac Diagnostic testing as needed and as appropriate for scope of practice/training.
- Perform related work as required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable illnesses, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
