Job Summary :
The Floater Volunteer and Program Coordinator will help manage the Downtown and Santa Monica volunteer pools. This includes helping the assigned sites Volunteer & Program Coordinator oversee client training activities and volunteer coordination at our Downtown and Santa Monica locations.
This position provides direct services to Chrysalis clients, helping them get ready for, find, and keep a job through various employment ready activities.
Activities include, but are not limited to, creating resumes, cover letters, interview prep, submitting job applications, and facilitating job readiness classes.
The position is based at our Downtown office and will support activities in our Santa Monica office. On occasion, travel to our Pacoima or Orange County offices will be needed.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
DIRECT CLIENT SERVICES (50%)
- Provide one-on-one resume preparation, practice interview services, and help clients apply to jobs online.
- Facilitate job readiness classes.
- Collaborate in the design and development of job readiness materials for Chrysalis training programs, with an eye toward making ongoing improvements.
- Support client and community events, including recruiting and supporting volunteers and various day of activities.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION, ENGAGEMENT & TRAINING (30%)
- Maintain close communication with assigned Downtown and Santa Monica Volunteer & Program Coordinators to help manage volunteer pools including providing direct support to volunteers such as addressing day-to-day emails, inquiries, and needs.
- Travel to other sites as needed; Orange County and San Fernando Valley.
- Lead volunteer information sessions, screen, onboard and train new volunteers regularly, and manage existing volunteers.
- Provide support for special events, volunteer engagement activities, and day of service events, working collaboratively across teams, and with external stakeholders.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & ADMINISTRATIVE (20%)
- Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure full coverage of one-on-one appointments and job readiness classes.
- Ensure the tracking of volunteer activities are up-to-date and complete in Salesforce and Humanitru.
- Work closely with Downtown and Santa Monica Volunteer & Program Coordinators to maintain active communication about volunteers and client training activities.
- Oversight and management of in-kind donations and resource rooms for the site.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills & Qualifications :
- Bilingual English / Spanish skills are required (verbal and written communication).
- Highly motivated by Chrysalis’ mission and desire to improve the social and economic fabric of our community.
- Teaching / facilitation / training experience is highly desired.
- Computer literacy required. Must be proficient in Internet research, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs and be willing to learn other applications as needed.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Prior experience achieving success working under limited supervision.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule depending on need.
- Willingness to travel to meetings and provide coverage support at other Chrysalis offices.
