We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients. Duties
- Perform preliminary eye exams, including taking vital signs and recording medical history.
- Assist in the management of medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and physiology to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Conduct tests such as visual acuity assessments and ocular pressure measurements.
- Provide support in pediatric eye examinations, ensuring a comfortable experience for young patients.
- Assist at front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
- Operate optical equipment and assist with frame selection and fitting.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic environment.
- Collaborate with the optometry team to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical records management and familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic.
- Understanding of vital signs measurement techniques and medical terminology related to eye care.
- Basic knowledge of physiology relevant to optometry practices.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Proficiency in retail math for managing optical sales is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Be able to commute to the second clinic location 3 days per week.
