The Honolulu Police Commission is looking for someone of high moral character who can deal tactfully and effectively with the public and departmental officials and keep highly sensitive matters confidential. Interact with the public and the Commissioners to develop and prepare the Commission's hearings calendar. Join the Commission meetings to transcribe verbatim all matters brought before the Commission. Other duties include providing secretarial services to the Chairman, the Commissioners and the Executive Director. Be the heart of the Honolulu Police Commission as you work behind the scenes to ensure that all conduct complaints against the Honolulu Police Department are received, considered, investigated and resolved.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience Requirement
Four years of clerical and stenographic experience, one year of which shall have involved taking and transcribing minutes of meetings, conferences, hearings or similar proceedings. Such experience must have included the ability to take dictation at a rate of 120 or more net words per minute and transcribe notes accurately, and type at a rate of 40 or more net words per minute.

- A Certificate in Court Reporting and/or Stenography will substitute for the one year of specialized experience in taking and transcribing minutes of meetings, conferences, hearings or similar proceedings.
