Project Manager I (Macro) for the City’s Community-Wide Plan, Cleveland Thrive
Grant Funded Position
The City of Cleveland is seeking a Project Manager I to assist with a community-wide blueprint for violence prevention. To help further the city’s efforts, the prospective project manager will convene a diverse group of stakeholders, organize community convenings and support trained facilitators in developing a community blueprint. We are seeking someone who is experienced in violence prevention initiatives, building relationships and trust with people of different backgrounds, and managing the development of community plans.
 This position will report to the Chief for Youth and Family Success in the mayor’s office.Has the primary responsibility for managing and coordinating the installation, testing, and documentation of new systems. Has supervisory and budgetary responsibilities for project implementation. Performs other job-related duties as required.A High School Diploma or GED is required. An ' Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university is required. Four years of full-time paid experience in the area of project management is required. (Substitution: One year of experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Must be computer proficient and familiar with the Internet. Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Project Management certification and knowledge of Microsoft Project is required. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Relationship-Building and Project Management Responsibilities
  • Integrate goals and objectives of Cleveland Thrive into the Office of Prevention, Intervention, and Opportunity.
  • Support the City of Cleveland with preparing a timeline and steps for organizing a series of community-wide convenings that is focused on a violence prevention plan and has the participation of diverse interested stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan with the Cleveland Thrive Cross-Sector Leadership partnersand other partners that meets the team’s stated objectives and outcomes.
  • Monitor progress and adjust the schedule and work plan as needed, or as developments require.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 meetings and build rapport with interested stakeholders in the community, the nonprofit, philanthropic, and business sectors, city and county government and others.
Collaboration and Coordination with the Project Manager II (Micro) on the Cleveland Thrive Plan 
In partnership with the Project Manager II for the Cleveland Thrive plan, the Project Manager I will: 
 
  • Identify gaps in service provision and programming for victims and survivors of violence, so they can have better access to trauma-informed care and resources.
  • The two Managers will also coordinate together to complete a community needs assessment and asset map.
  • Using the community needs assessment and asset map of violence prevention and intervention efforts and organizations, the project managers will collaboratively identify within six months of their employment overlapping services, resource gaps, emergent needs, special populations who are not receiving adequate care to support their healing and recovery, and opportunities for coordinating partners working in or around the same communities and target populations.
  • Design and implement a resident-engagement plan for purposes of ensuring sustainable and long-term community engagement in creating resident-driven violence interruption and prevention initiatives. 
  • Ensure representation of survivors and victims of violence, their family members, and residents at the community-wide convenings for building a long-term, community-based violence prevention plan.
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner, while balancing the constraints of time, cost, and quality standards
  • Prepare a budget based on scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Track project costs to meet budget and measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
 
Event Planning Responsibilities
  • Organize in-person and virtual convenings with interested stakeholders to support a community-wide violence prevention and intervention plan.
  • Consult with the Mayor’s Violence Prevention Workgroup and the Cross-Sector Leadership partners on the planning and design of the community-wide convenings.
  • Review contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks, communicating expected deliverables and ensuring deliverables are met efficiently.
  • Manage “day of” logistics and staff to ensure smooth running operations and positive attendee experience.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of materials and packets required for events.
  • Invitee list management and follow-up booking or reporting to the team.
  • Monitor event budgets.
  • Inform the community and interested stakeholders of planned events to ensure broad participation and opportunity for input, collaboration and sharing in the community-wide plan.
  • Prepare post-event reports to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and improvements for past and future convenings.
  • Logging and tracking all Project and Event Plans 
  • Arrange all pre-event meetings, walkthroughs, and quality checks for online and in-person events.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of project management and related experience
  • Knowledge of community violence interruption and prevention methodologies, and experience working with victims of violence, including firearm or intimate partner violence
  • Willingness to learn evidence-based practices and participate in trauma-informed, victim-centered and sensitivity trainings geared towards engaging individuals traumatized by violence, their family members or residents living in communities experiencing high rates of violence and economic and social transition
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Ability to build, sustain, and strengthen relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Keen ability to maintain neutrality with stakeholders and community partners
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
