What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Medical Technician position at City of Alvin?
Job Announcement:
To administer Basic Life Support and emergency medical techniques; to serve as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on a Basic Life Support/Mobile Intensive Care Unit (BLS/MICU); to continue education relative to medical advancements; and to maintain ambulance vehicles and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Training and Experience:
Prefer one or more years Emergency Medical experience as an EMT and a High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses, Certificates, and Recertification:
Possession of a Texas Department of State Health Services ("DSHS") Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Certificate and a
valid Class C Texas Driver's License. Possession of or ability to obtain within six months, an American Heart Association - Basic
Life Support ("BLS") HealthCare Provider ("HCP") CPR Certificate. Completion of NIMS courses 100, 200, 700, and 800.
Everyone must qualify and be recertified prior to the end of the certification period.
Continuing Education:
Must maintain continuing education hours within DSHS guidelines. Must exercise professional initiative to stay current with
new drugs and treatment procedure guidelines. Must maintain ability to carry out standing orders within Medical Director's
discretion.
