The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity in the Community Development Department as a Maintenance Specialist with the Beloit Housing Authority.This position is responsible for ensuring maintenance of Beloit Housing Authority properties. This position is required to perform a broad range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks to include minor painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, concrete and metalwork.
The work performed by the Maintenance Specialist is characterized by significant time spent independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion in identifying and completing necessary maintenance and repair tasks under the general supervision of the Property Operations Coordinator. This position ensures that Beloit Housing Authority properties meet city, state and federal codes and requirements and are maintained to the standards set by the Director of Beloit Housing Authority. Other duties may be assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Post-High School education in a related trade is preferred.
4. A minimum of 2 years of varied semi-skilled property maintenance and repair work is required.
5. A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service is required.
6. Electrical Hazard Recognition Certification or the ability to obtain such certification within one year of hire.
7. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
