SUMMARY

This position installs and maintains street signs. Places or coordinates placement of street markings and facilitates the application for the City of Bentonville.

Supervisory Responsibility:    None

Annual Budget:                       $500,000.00

Responsible Asset Value:        Equipment/Vehicles – $1,000,000.00

                                                           

Technology Knowledge:         

Tyler Enterprise ERP, BambooHR, Executime, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Workorder Management System, Esri (GIS) products, Bluebeam.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Implement signing and striping regulations as set forth by the latest edition of the “Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.”

 

Install and maintain striping for crosswalks, stop bars, parking spaces and other striping applications using thermoplastic or traffic paint, and maintaining records of placement locations and dates.

 

Assist Global Information System (GIS) Coordinator with locating and identifying existing street signs for inventory purposes.

 

Assist street crews in setting up safe work zones on a daily basis, occasionally assisting street crews in daily maintenance operations.

 

Assist street crews in adverse weather conditions.

 

Responsible for upkeep and condition of city sign truck and associated equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years related experience and/or training,

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain IMSA Level I and II Certifications in Signs and Pavement Markings.

Ability to obtain certification in “Flagger” training.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions during all seasons and performs assignments in all types of traffic conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
