GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs intermediate service work in the field of behavioral health issues, crisis intervention, and risk assessment and management; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides support and assistance to law enforcement personnel, concerning mental health related issues;
Provides resources and intervention to subjects in crisis;
Conducts risk assessment and referrals for treatment;
Provides support, education and guidance to the referred individual and family;
Manages workload as assigned;
Requires work in the field alongside law enforcement personnel.
RELATED FUNCTIONS:
Visits community resource facilities in the area;
Provides training and acts as a community liaison;
Performs related tasks as required;
Other duties as assigned.
Thorough knowledge in the field of mental health, risk assessment and management, and crisis intervention. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement personnel and mental health professionals. Ability to communicate with individuals in crisis. Ability to communicate in a large group setting. The ability to work effectively and independently. Have knowledge of case management. Knowledge of the City and Department’s policies, procedures and practices. Demonstrate the ability to effectively use a personal computer and office software. Ability to manage, and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- A Master’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in mental health counseling, psychology, social work or related field required.
- A State of Florida licensed mental health counselor or licensed clinical social worker, licensed under Florida State Statute 491 required.
- Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in the last three (3) years.
- Position is required to be on call 24 hours.
