GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES The Recreation Center Attendant is responsible for the member access to facilities, onsite customer service and all membership enrollment processes. This position will also assist in cleaning and care of fitness equipment and assist with other Recreation Center duties as necessary. The Sports Fields Attendant may perform other responsibilities such as Scorekeeper, Gatekeeper, Concessions, Officiating for the Sports Fields.
SUPERVISION Under general supervision from the Parks & Recreation Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for opening and closing recreation facility. • Assists with all new membership enrollment, including processing payments for special events, sports and aquatic programs. • Completes routine cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment and facilities. • Regular observation and attending to fitness area in order to maintain safety protocols. • Attends to all customer service needs such as answering the phones, greeting members, attending front desk and following up on membership questions. • Responsible for general filing and clerical procedures. • Processing reservations and other related administrative tasks. • May perform other responsibilities such as Scorekeeper, Gatekeeper, Concessions, Officiating for the Sports Fields. • Perform other duties as assigned.
IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and effective interpersonal skills at all times. • Utilize general office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers, e-mail and all similar office technology on a regular basis. • Demonstrated ability to support and function in team environment. • Prepare and maintain records with a high level of detail and accuracy. • Reliability and dependability. • Participation in Training.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ALERTNESS REQUIREMENTS • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner • Ability to perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment • Not mentally or physically impaired from any cause that can adversely affect ability to safely and competently perform the duties of the position• Ability to take prompt and appropriate response to operating conditions • Ability to work in an unfatigued state • Ability to accurately gauge lengths of time and distance • Ability to quickly store and recall instructions in one’s short term memory • Ability to concentrate • Ability to cope with sudden changes in surrounding and/or emergency situations and/or alarms • Demonstrated caring, committed and concerned attitude about safety
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING • Previous customer service or clerical experience. • Specific on the job training provided. • Prior fitness center experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner. • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately and professionally at all times. • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail amidst a multi task, changing priority environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting. • Routine time spent sitting, walking or standing. • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist and climb. • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. • Hold and grip objects.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • AED certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • Valid Missouri Driver’s License preferred and must remain insurable under the City’s liability insurance policy; may be required for certain duties
