City of Deming Job Vacancy Announcement

Facility Maintenance Worker, Range 12, $16.90/hr.

Open until 4:00pm February 28, 2025

The City of Deming is seeking qualified applicants for regular, full time Facility Maintenance Worker, located in

the Facilities Maintenance Department. Position requires a valid State of New Mexico driver's license and good

driving record; previous department-related work experience is preferred.

This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work. Employees in this class perform work of a manual nature

that does require some degree of manipulative skill or previous experience to do an effective job. Work is usually

generally supervised, as employee is expected to have sufficient training and experience to operate independently.

Employee may occasionally operate trucks, heavy equipment, or other machinery, or perform semi-skilled tasks in

the building and mechanical trades. Employee will be trained and qualified to perform these occasional higher-level

duties and will be compensated accordingly.

Individuals offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and background

check.

Applicant shall possess:

• Valid State of NM Drivers License and good driving record.

• HS Diploma or GED

• Knowledge of the care and use of standard hand tools used in the construction and maintenance of public works

• Ability to read, understand and follow specific written and oral instructions.

• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.

• Ability to get along well with co-workers.

• Good physical condition and health; sufficient physical strength and ability to permit the lifting and moving of
