POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs equipment and special equipment operation to assist with maintenance and repairs, and other assignments to assist with overall department operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Not all duties may be assigned to each position. The allocation of duties for this position will be dependent upon the department/division assigned and qualification of assigned work/equipment.
1. Safely operates heavy and light construction equipment, machinery, and tools for department operations.
2. Sprays herbicides/pesticides to control weeds/mosquitoes on City property.
3. Welds and cuts for maintenance, repair and manufacturing of equipment.
4. Performs mechanical service and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
5. Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment.
6. Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
7. Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
8. Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed.
9. Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data.
10. Assists crews with assigned duties as needed.
11. May act as a work leader in the absence of a crew leader.
12. Completes written records of labor and materials used for each work project.
13. Performs emergency repairs and work as necessary.
14. Reports to work for after hour needs, as assigned.
15. Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.95 per hour
