The purpose of this job is to research, create, design, coordinate, and supervise age-appropriate programs for the department while following and performing all safety regulation requirements. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.Creates, plans, promotes, and advertises and manages center programs/events/activities.Supervises part-time staff, delegates duties, answers questions and helps with customer service.Establishes relationships with outside senior organizations as well as other community organizations in search of guest speakers, new program ideas/offerings, and community outreach opportunities.Schedules classes, outlines class format, secures instructors, and creates schedule of events and programs for youth, adult, and senior citizens. Registers participants and keep accurate records pertaining to activity.Assists in budget preparation for programs and facilities.Promotes programs and activities through a variety of media such as departmental publications, oral presentations, and promotional materials.Requires working a varied schedule to include nights and weekends.Performs related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Requires Bachelor’s degree in leisure science, physical education or related field. Some experience with program planning.
