Public Works Maintenance Worker

Job Summary
The position works under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent and Supervisor, performing tasks related to the maintenance of city grounds and buildings, snow removal, and other weather-related emergencies. They will also be assigned to various maintenance tasks, including streets, cemetery, parks, and traffic light maintenance. Key duties include operating landscaping and construction equipment, performing landscape and sports field maintenance, snow removal, and equipment repairs. The role requires a CDL Class A within six months of hire that the employer will pay for you to get if you do not already have it, a high school diploma or GED, and general knowledge of maintenance tasks. Physical demands include lifting up to 80 pounds and working in various weather conditions. The work environment is mostly outside working in the elements. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but during the summer, the schedule shifts to four 10-hour days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates mowers, utility tractors, gators, landscape power tools, pickup trucks, small dump trucks, and construction type equipment;
• Performs landscape maintenance, including grass mowing, edging, weeding, spraying, planting, mulching, trimming, trash clean up, and sports field maintenance;
• Performs snow removal and de-icing tasks on roadways, walkways, and parking lots of City-owned buildings and property;
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles including daily lubricating, fluid checks and cleaning of all equipment assigned to them to complete their work assignment;
• Assists other sections of the Public Works Department, and other City Departments in their routine tasks and in emergencies; including snow removal, limb removal, barricade, sign posting and removal;
• Must be available for any call-out emergencies;
• Performs other duties as required.

Pay: From $22.98 per hour
