Description
Part-time, not to exceed 28 hours weekly
Hourly rate: $16.00
***NOTE: This position is posted year-round and filled as needed.
General Purpose of Position
Performs park patrol, investigation, traffic regulation and related park enforcement activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Patrols park properties and responds to calls for assistance
- Performs regular patrol of parks to maintain order
- Document all activities and observations through daily logs and inspection sheets.
- Summons ambulance and other emergency response vehicles
- Secure all buildings, equipment and grounds in accordance with park closing procedures.
- Assist park patrons when needed.
- Ensure all other employees are safely out of the buildings before locking up.
- Checks field and other facility lights and works with contractor to procure repair services
- Notify the Superintendent of Recreation of any damage, vandalism or unsafe/malfunctioning situations
Assists with events and other festivals held in the parks
- Works as security manpower at special events including weddings and festivals
- Assists with rentals of park facilities
- Directs traffic during special events and festivals
- Undertakes community-oriented ranger work
- Maintains departmental equipment and supplies
- Coordinates with Police Department during emergency situations
- Performs other duties as directed
Working Conditions, Environment, and Position Related Hazards:
Works mostly outdoors in all weather conditions. Exposure to dust, ice, snow, heat, rain, and physical hazards associated with working in this environment.
Schedule:
Must be available for up to 28 hours per week with no set schedule. More hours could be available some weeks but not guaranteed.
Requirements
Minimum age requirement of 21 years
Education and Experience
The person in this position must have a high school education or equivalent.
Licenses and Certifications
A valid driver's license is required
