What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Systems Technician position at City of Hannibal?
Citywide:
- Assists with maintaining and updating City hardware and software programs
- Conducts data processing management activities that are necessary to maintain the efficiency of the City computer systems.
- Performs periodic checks of various department computer systems for personnel compliance with established use policies of the City of Hannibal.
- Assists in maintaining all City video surveillance equipment and copies of video data as requested by Department Heads (or designee) and prosecutors.
- Assists with maintaining and updating all City websites.
- Recommends replacements or upgrades to City computer system to the IT Administrator
- Assists in managing the City telephone system and updates voicemail and auto-attendant as needed.
- Assists with monitoring and maintenance of all equipment used for all electronic fingerprinting.
- Conducts training as needed for personnel in the use of City computer systems.
Police Department:
- Assists in maintaining police department access and meets requirements for MULES, NCIC and other law enforcement related databases.
- May provide credible testimony and/or statements both verbal and written for depositions, trials in a court of law or personnel investigations regarding data retrieved or preserved from a computer, mobile device, video surveillance or other similar devices.
Other duties as assigned by the Information Systems Administrator
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate from an accredited high school or the possession of a GED Certificate for high school awarded by a state or the United States government.
- Associates or higher level degree in computer sciences or related field.
- Two or more years of previous experience related to information systems technician duties is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of modern IT equipment, practices and procedures.
- Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Good general intelligence and emotional stability with the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, completing tasks with minimum supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Physical effort centers on the duties involving office work, operating a variety of office and computer equipment with the ability to pull and or lift 50 pounds to shoulder height.
- Ability and agility to bend, stoop, and climb stairs.
- Ability to hear conversational speech and speak clearly.
- Vision acuity (20/40 correctable to 20/20), color vision and peripheral vision. (This will apply to appointments after October 1, 2001).
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Work Environment
The work hours are spent in an office environment standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time. The Information Systems Technician predominately works day shift with weekends and holidays off. However, they may be required to work evenings or have a work week that includes weekends, and may be scheduled odd and long hours including overtime to accomplish the required tasks. In cases of emergencies involving any computer/electronic equipment, the Information Systems Technician may be called in to work off-duty as is deemed necessary.
