CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION
CLASSIFICATION TITLE: HWU BUILDING & GROUNDS ASSISTANT
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to perform custodial work associated with the upkeep, cleaning, and general maintenance of HWU department facilities and equipment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Direct Supervisor: HWU Director of Operations (or, Designee)
Direct Reports: As directed and/or assigned
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
•Cleans and maintains department facilities, including the Administration Building, Systems Operation Center and Treatment Plants.•Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors; cleans restrooms, windows, water fountains, tables, vending machines and related facilities/equipment;•Vacuums carpets; dusts furniture; washes walls; wipes down equipment; removes trash.•Cleans outside grounds; sweeps parking lot; washes and hoses down sidewalks and picnic shelters.•Performs a variety of routine general maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, re-stocking vending machines, re-stocking bathroom supplies, and other tasks as needed.•Performs varied grounds maintenance tasks; trims shrubbery, weeds plant beds, disposes of trash, blows debris from and power washes sidewalks, covered bays, and vehicle service/parking areas;•Shovels snow and spreads salt and sand on sidewalks and driveways as needed.•Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment as directed.•Reports necessary facility maintenance requirements to Supervisor.•Moves supplies, office equipment, and other needs as directed.•Maintains regular and predictable in person attendance during regular business hours of the Henderson Water Utility is required.•Must undergo and successfully complete drug test and alcohol screening prior to employment and undergo and successfully complete future drug test and/or alcohol screening pursuant to the City’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required, necessary, or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED desired; previous experience in custodial/maintenance work preferred.
