Performs intermediate manual and basic semiskilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings, grounds, streets, utilities and related facilities, and related work as required. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the assigned Crew Supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performing a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance and repair of public facilities, grounds, streets, utilities and related facilities.The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.Loads and unloads gravel, dirt, timber, chemicals, and other materials, tools and equipment. Spreads asphalt and patches holes in street surfaces, assists with concrete work.Digs trenches and ditches, cleans catch basins, manholes and drainage lines.Assists with the installation of storm sewers and drainage lines; assists with the construction and maintenance of utility lines and facilities.Performs other street and utility maintenance dutiesOperates dump trucks, mowers, chain saws, pumps, mixers, trimmers, tractors and similar equipment.Assists with equipment maintenance and repair. Performs related tasks as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently pushing or pulling and lifting and requires speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and repetitive motions; work requires depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to extreme cold (non- weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock, exposure to vibration and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
