What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neighborhood Services Officer position at City of Lee's Summit?
The Neighborhood Service Officer, under the general supervision of the Codes Administration Manager, performs a variety of routine and complex duties regarding the interpretation, inspection and enforcement of adopted property codes and related rules and regulations.
High School Diploma or GED and one year of enforcement or inspections related experience.
Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record required.
International Code Council (ICC) Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within 12 months of employment required.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of code enforcement principles, practices and operational techniques as applicable to a municipal setting; working knowledge of applicable Municipal codes, standards and regulations pertinent to enforcement of nuisance ordinances, vegetation control ordinances, building codes, dangerous building code, property maintenance and selected zoning ordinances.
Demonstrated ability to prepare, organize and maintain detailed inspection reports; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written format with property owners, supervisors, fellow employees and members of the general public; ability to establish effective working relationships in a customer service setting.
Ability to use, operate and prepare reports utilizing Word, Excel, Access, development tracking software and other software as applicable.
