Assists in the development of neighborhood revitalization and corridor plans, and general and form-based zoning regulations. Assists in the development of comprehensive plans and land use plans. Works closely with the Business and Community Development Department's partner agencies on creative place-making initiatives. Works closely with diverse groups, community development grant programs, lending communities, and other City departments to ensure quality neighborhoods, affordable, and high-quality housing for residents.A successful history of building bridges, facilitating collaborative solutions where divergent interests lie, and generating commitment and enthusiasm for the vision of building vibrant neighborhoods, places, and communities will be key credentials. Public speaking, engaging presentation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The Planner will also assist in staffing the Planning Board/Board of Adjustment. Minimum Qualifications Planner I Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, or Community Development, or related field; andDriver’s license valid in NC and good driving record.Planner II Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, or Community Development, or related field;4-6 years of "related" experience working in Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, Community Development, or related field; andDriver’s license valid in NC and good driving record.Planner IIIBachelor’s Degree in Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, Community Development, or related field;Six or more years of related experience working in Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Geography, Community Development, or related field;American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or other planning-related professional certification;Experience in Community Engagement and Collaborative Meeting Facilitation; andDriver’s license valid in NC and good driving record.Work ScheduleMonday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm.
