The Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting recreation, social services, cultural and athletic program implementation for the City of Menlo Park. Individuals in this position perform at a variety of recreation facility sites, including community centers, playgrounds, parks, pools, child care or senior centers, and other sites. The Recreation Coordinator develops, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of staff responsible for providing operational support to the City's community services programs. Responsibilities include ensuring staff are properly trained in program operations; evaluates employee performance, counsels employees and assists in selection and promotion. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the provision of a safe and healthy work and play environment; trains staff in safety measures; observes program activities and staff compliance with safety requirements. The Recreation Coordinator receives and responds to public inquiries about program offerings; promotes public awareness of available recreation services; assists the public in program registration and assists in program marketing and communication.
