What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Recreation Aide position at City of Missouri City?
This is an entry-level, part-time position in the Parks and Recreation Department. The Recreation Aide plays a key role in supporting the supervision and management of Parks and Recreation facilities, operations, programs and events, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while assisting staff and patrons.

- Ensure that all Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures are explained to and followed by all patrons and guests; enforce rules and policies as necessary.
- Open and close the facility at scheduled times; prepare and maintain attendance, reservation and revenue reports and records; perform light custodial duties; maintain facility equipment and supplies.
- Prepare the facility for programs and rentals by setting up tables, chairs and equipment; Work scheduled departmental special events including set up and break down; Coordinate with user groups and other departments to meet the needs of each program or event;
- Ensure cleanliness and safety by performing light custodial duties, conducting regular facility checks, and assisting with various facility projects as needed to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for patrons;
- Promote and maintain excellent public relations and customer service by addressing public inquiries and unforeseen issues, communicating with customers through email or phone calls to resolve problems, answering questions, providing suggestions, and handling complaints.
- Assist with administrative duties at the front desk; Manage membership sales, program registrations and facility reservations; Maintain printed and/or digital material;
- Assist with the implementation of programs as needed; Monitor the activities of guests and participants; Maintain program and user visitation logs;
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. All Parks & Recreation staff are required to work MANDATORY annual Snow Fest Event (1st Saturday in December) and the Independence Day Festival (July 4th) each year, as well as additional events throughout the year.
- Must be willing to maintain a general knowledge of the Parks and Recreation Department’s programs, events, activities and offerings.
- Must be willing to attend trainings, workshops and staff development sessions.
- Ability to interact well with all types of people and convey a positive image for the City of Missouri City.
