Patrol - Traffic - Bike - Motorcycle - K9 - Drug & Vice - SRO - SWAT

The Newnan Police Department is a State Certified agency and serves as a leader in the public safety community. We offer advanced training opportunities, rotating twelve-hour shifts, take home vehicles, modern equipment, specialized unit assignments, and a team-based work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Patrol City of Newnan streets, parks, commercial and residential areas to preserve the peace and enforce the law.

• Prevent, detect and investigate misconduct involving misdemeanors, felonies and other law violations and to otherwise serve and protect.

• Respond to emergencies and investigate accidents, robberies, civil disturbances, domestic disputes, fights, drunkenness, missing children, prowlers, abuse of drugs and take appropriate law enforcement action.

• Conduct follow-up investigations of crimes committed during assigned shift.

• Prepare cases for testimony and testifies in court proceedings.

• Accurately complete required reports and records.

• Carry out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances

• Coordinate and cooperate with other City departments, law enforcement agencies and other legal entities as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

Georgia Basic Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Certified Officer in good standing.

Successfully complete pre-employment background check to include:

• Valid US driver's license free of suspensions or revocations

• Written Basic Aptitude Test

• Physical Abilities Test

• Background Investigation

• Psychological Screening

• Polygraph Examination

• Medical Physical and Drug Screening

High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by completion of basic police officer training program.

• Base Pay Range $57,330 - $73,000
• Experience and Education Incentives
• Overtime and Special Assignments Available

Starting hourly rate based on experience, education and higher-level certifications
