What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at City of Pewaukee?
Our Public Works department seeks a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair city vehicles and equipment, and assist with maintenance of city streets.

Representative duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Inspect, diagnose, and locate mechanical difficulties on automobiles, trucks, vans, and a variety of gasoline and diesel powered construction equipment.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair electrical system components, ignition systems, computers, alternators, starters and batteries.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and recondition hydraulic systems; diagnose and repair front and rear drive axles, drive train components, belts, gears and chain drives.
- Weld, fabricate and assemble parts and equipment for City automotive and heavy equipment; fabricate and modify tools as needed.
- Perform service calls on job sites or streets to perform minor repairs.
- Perform safety inspections on all City vehicles and ensure all repairs have been completed before vehicle is released from garage.
- Perform all equipment operations, road maintenance and repair duties as needed; is regularly scheduled for snow and ice removal operations.
Minimally qualified candidates are those who have specialized training in mechanical repair or related field; five years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid WI driver's license is mandatory; as is a Commercial Driver's License (CDL - A,B,C, D). ASE certifications are desireable.
