The Development Review Engineer's primary function is to support the Engineering Division to ensure private development projects meet the City’s design standards and specifications. The Development Review Engineer is responsible for reviewing, providing comments, and approving construction plans and reports for subdivisions, building permits, and related applications submitted by developers' engineers. is responsible for performing Civil Engineering analysis, designing, contract administration, and project management of the City projects and programs.

The Development Review Engineer's primary function is to support the Engineering Division to ensure private development projects meet the City’s design standards and specifications. The Development Review Engineer is responsible for reviewing, providing comments, and approving construction plans and reports for subdivisions, building permits, and related applications submitted by developers' engineers. is responsible for performing Civil Engineering analysis, designing, contract administration, and project management of the City projects and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates general knowledge of infrastructure systems including street, drainage, water, and sewer design and construction; acquires general knowledge of applicable engineering principles and practice.
- Reviews and comments on various Planning and Development applications such as Subdivision construction plans, commercial building permits, plat documents, planned developments, vacation of easements/right-of-way, etc.
- Coordinates with other Public Works Divisions, City Departments, and other agencies.
- Manages the City MS4 Program.
- Assumes the role of Floodplain Administrator and reviews associated Floodplain Development permits.
- Manages Levee certification program.
- Provides technical information to other city departments and the general public.
- Assumes duties as Project Manager, if needed, in their absence

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field and four years of related experience in Civil Engineering tasks. A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
- Must possess a South Dakota Professional Engineer (PE) License, or ability to obtain within one year from the date of hire.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days from the date of hire.
Salary : $82,379 - $90,018
