What are the responsibilities and job description for the Code Enforcement Officer position at City of San Antonio, Florida?
The City of San Antonio, Florida ("City") is seeking a Code Compliance Officer ("officer") to work on a contractual basis; hours may vary but the City anticipates 16 hours per month at an hourly rate between $25 - $35 per hour, depending on qualifications.
The officer will enforce local laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances applicable to land use, building, zoning, signage, and other related matters. The officer will consult with City staff, elected officials, attorney, and/or law enforcement where appropriate, as well as working independently. The officer must exercise good judgment and use tactful diplomacy in every interpersonal exchange while assisting code violators in achieving compliance.
To ensure City goals, objectives, and quality improvement initiatives are met, the officer will assist and support City representatives in interpreting, enforcing, reviewing, and resolving compliance issues. The officer may be called on to advise on matters related to procedure, documentation, and revision of compliance issues. The officer will conduct inspections and investigations by both routine observation and City requests, write violations judiciously and consistently, and ensure violators understand actions required to be in compliance. The officer will maintain current and accurate records of violations, ensure each case is resolved timely, and issue status reports monthly to the City. Duties outside of this description may be required.
Candidates must be certified through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.): Level I and Level II required; Level III & Level IV preferred. Must maintain a valid Florida Driver License. Must have the ability to maintain constructive and effective working relationships with City representatives and the public.
