2nd Shift Head Custodian - MLK Dream Center

PAY: $18.65/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care and maintenance of the facility. Employee is expected to report to and travel between facilities as schedule dictates.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Will supervise temporary, seasonal, volunteer and community service workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positive interactions with guests and staff

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, dusts, strips, waxes, polishes & buffs floors. Cleans carpets, furniture, etc.

• Washes windows, walls, metal and woodwork.

• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills, cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc.

• Picks up litter from grounds and around the building. Mows & trims grass, waters plants & grass, pulls weeds, rakes leaves, trims bushes, cleans gutters, removes snow & ice from steps & sidewalks, sweeps sidewalks & parking lot, attends to landscaping and replants items if necessary.

• Changes light bulbs of various types and makes minor electrical repairs.

• Collects & dumps garbage, cleans & relines garbage cans.

• Resurfaces gym floor as necessary.

• Works directly with the Center Supervisor and office staff on scheduling of the facility. Sets up equipment, tables, chairs, and recreational equipment for meetings, classes, events & rentals.

Oversees groups using the facility for rentals, meetings, etc. Also, opens and secures the building for these activities as necessary.

• Makes deliveries & pickups, loads & unloads equipment & supplies to/from various sites. Inspects department vehicle(s) and maintains operational logs.

• Stocks, inventories, organizes, orders & distributes cleaning supplies, first-aid supplies, and janitorial and maintenance equipment.

• Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and tools for proper operating condition.

• Assist in inspection of the facility and follows through with request for repairs and work orders as needed.

• Opens/closes, locks/unlocks the facility as needed.

• Other related duties as assigned.

• Keeps records of all completed daily work.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the duties of the position.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
