POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Deputy Director and the PSSL Gang & Substance Misuse Prevention (GASMP) Coalition Chair, the Communities That Care (CTC) Coordinator plans, organizes and builds community support for the GASMP Coalition's CTC program.
The CTC Coordinator will interact with community leaders, partner organizations, residents and volunteers to facilitate program goals and objectives to better address root issues in the City related to substance misuse by targeting prevention efforts to reduce risk factors and strengthen protective factors in the four domains of community, family, school and peer / individual.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
CTC Coalition Management :
1.1 Uses effective group facilitation skills to help guide the coalition through the CTC planning and implementation process.
1.2 Helps the community to complete the CTC Milestones & Benchmarks.
1.3 Coordinates efforts to identify and solve problems in completing the Milestones & Benchmarks, and assists in implementing solutions.
1.4 Works with the core workgroup to recruit key leaders and potential community board members.
1.5 Prepares for and leads the CTC workshops in appropriate order and timing for effective community progress, with support from the CTC coach.
1.6 Handles community board meeting preparation & follow-up.
1.7 Prepares documentation & reports as needed.
1.8 Facilitates delegation of community prevention board tasks, including but not limited to collecting, organizing, and analyzing data;
community outreach and public relations; and board meetings. Leads discussions related to project planning and maintenance.
1.9 Works with community prevention board members, members of the larger community and the CTC coach to develop and implement a comprehensive community prevention plan.
1.10 Works with the community board to establish systems for the community prevention board to monitor the implementation of selected interventions.
1.11 Works with community board leadership or designated workgroup to oversee implementation of the preventive interventions selected by the community prevention board.
1.12 Coordinates dissemination of CTC information to key leaders, schools and other youth service providers and the public.
Makes presentations and prepares community board members for community outreach.
1.13 Assists in writing grant proposals, reports, concept papers and other materials needed to obtain funding.
1.14 Under direction of community board leadership or funding workgroup, develops and manages budget.
2. Support Promise South Salt Lake Prevention Projects :
2.1 Data collection and organization
2.2 Monthly reporting
2.3 Resource navigation and support with relevant referrals
2.4 Community classes and workshops
2.5 Afterschool Program leader training
3. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- 2-4 years relevant experience which may include Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a related field and / or experience.
- Experience working with youth and family development, experience administering various youth or family programs with a high degree of community involvement;
and working knowledge of various youth organizations and their interaction with the community. Experience with boards and commissions preferred.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience working with youth in individual and group settings.
- Proven track record of working with underrepresented or under-resourced populations.
- Evidence of commitment to the mission of Promise South Salt Lake including youth leadership, youth development, and accessibility.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to self-start, learn new skills, and work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, and the public.
- Skills in professional office settings, including knowledge of common computer software including the Microsoft Office and Google suites.
- Willingness to be trained in First Aid and CPR.
