What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Worker I (Apprentice) or II (Journeyman) position at City of South Salt Lake?
Under the direction of the Streets Division Manager, the Concrete Worker installs and repairs City streets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Removes, constructs and finishes concrete projects
- Removes existing concrete
- Reads and sets grade
- Constructs necessary forms for concrete pouring
- Finishes concrete of newly poured curbs, gutters and sidewalks
- Maintains satisfactory condition of City streets during winter
- Operates snow removal equipment
- Patches asphalt
- Maintains street signs and pavement markings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years documented apprentice level experience in concrete finishing, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license with a Class B CDL endorsement (including Tanker endorsements) or have the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of concrete removal and finishing techniques.
- Skilled in concrete finishing; and skilled in the operation of a loader, backhoe, dump truck, jackhammer, tamper, and various hand tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
