Position Summary
Join our team as a Utility Locator , where you'll ensure the protection of vital City infrastructure. In this role, you'll receive and process utility locate requests, identify underground utilities using advanced tools and resources, and work to prevent damage during construction. This position involves both physical and mental effort and requires attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Normal Shift : Mon-Fri 7am-3 : 30pm
Key Responsibilities
- Process utility locate requests according to Missouri "One Call" requirements.
- Use the City Geographical Information System (GIS) to assess and determine the need for field locates.
- Identify and mark underground utilities, including water mains, sewer lines, fiber optic cables, traffic signals, and more, using utility maps and electronic locator equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to assist with locating utilities.
- Assist homeowners, builders, contractors, and other utilities with locating buried lines.
- Maintain accurate records of locate activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Respond to field requests, drive to sites, and independently handle locate tasks.
- Work collaboratively with other City departments to maintain and update utility information.
- Perform all duties while adhering to established City safety standards.
