General Statement of Job



Come join our team!! Our Summer Camp program starts in June (M-F, shift varies)
Summer Camp orientation/training will be June 9th to June 13th. Summer Camp
officially starts on June 16th to August 1st

Performs routine safety and security monitoring and intervention activities for the summer camp buildings and surrounding areas. Work involves assuring the campus and all persons on site are safe and secure from external risks and the individuals on campus during operating hours are in appropriate and/or correctly assigned locations and assists with behavioral disturbances during operating hours.

Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Parks and Recreation Site Supervisor or designee.

Essential Job Functions

Patrols and monitors all summer camp buildings and grounds, addresses the presence of outsiders on summer camp property, and maintains log of suspicious activities as appropriate.

Reports safety and security problems to city administration per established policies and procedures.

Reports human disturbances to camp or city administration per established policies and procedures.

Monitors student behavior during camp hours, identifies students potentially in wrong or off-limits locations or astray from assigned camp group to camp administration per established policies and procedures.

Enforces all policies and procedures regarding persons entering and exiting campus for work and participation in programs, events, media relations, or any other reason.

Assures the physical well-being and safety of all persons on the summer camp campus; administers first aid as necessary; communicates for a variety of purposes with all camp personnel; completes and submits incident reports per city policy and regulatory guidelines.

Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits a variety of reports, records, and data for routine and requested purposes.

Adheres to all city and public health and safety guidelines and protocols; performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.

Maintains quality communication and interaction with all city personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public to maintain good will toward the city and to project a positive city image.

Maintains on-call work availability as assigned, to prepare for, respond to, or recover from a hurricane, tropical weather event, or other emergency to meet the city’s obligation to remain operational before, during, and after the event; duties assigned may or may not be typical of the job and are contingent upon the needs of the city and the residents because of the event.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by some directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.

Required Certifications and Licenses
May be required to possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a city owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required (and sponsored) according to job duties and responsibilities.

First Aid and CPR training are required as part of the City of Tamarac’s new hire onboarding for this position.
