Student Resident Firefighter
The City of Warrensburg is now accepting applications for Student Resident Firefighters/ Emergency Medical Technicians (E.M.T.s). If you have ever considered a career in the fire service, the Warrensburg Fire Department is a great place to start! We seek motivated individuals who want to join our amazing team, and no prior fire service experience or certification is required to apply. Once you are on board, the department will provide the training and certifications needed to begin your career. This training and education will allow you to test for international certifications in firefighting. Our robust training division and senior-level instructors will assist you in acquiring knowledge and hands-on practical skills. We encourage and welcome those with prior experience to apply and typically promote internal part-time personnel to full-time positions if one becomes available.

The student residency program is designed to provide a person with many opportunities, such as fire service career awareness, fire service training, hands-on learning with the assistance of career firefighters, an opportunity for personal growth and leadership. The benefits of being a Warrensburg Student Residence Firefighter are paid training to receive your International Fire Service certification, a FREE dorm room at Station 2, and Emergency Medical Technician tuition reimbursement. The department has a proven track record with this program: 81% of the residents complete their degree, and 73% of our student personnel get hired into a full-time public safety positions.
Applicants must complete an application, a written employment test, a department interview board, and a reference check. Passing applicants will receive a conditional letter of employment. The conditions of employment include passing a background check, a physical (employers' expense), and the C.P.A.T. (Candidate Physical Ability Test) by the end of their first calendar year with the department.
Additionally, the applicant must possess a valid vehicle operator's license, be of good character, and submit to drug/alcohol screening. The position also requires an excellent work ethic, teamwork, and a good rapport with the public. See the attached files for the complete job description.
