What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Technician position at City of Winder?
This position is responsible for the maintenance of City parks, ground, facilities, and rights-of-way.
Essential Job Duties and Functions:
- Operates light and heavy machinery including commercial mowers, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, and others.
- Applies herbicides and pesticides as needed.
- Repairs fences, playground equipment, and sidewalks.
- Installs and maintains irrigation systems.
- Lays sod.
- Removes litter and trash from parks and city buildings.
- Installs landscapes.
- Prunes trees and shrubs.
- Pors concrete.
- Vacuums leaves.
- May be required to work outside normal work hours in on-call and emergency situations.
- Performs other remated duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment.
- Skilled in the operation of assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Skilled in interpersonal relations.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License required and maintains a good driving record.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- No felony convictions within the prior ten (10) years or while employed in the position.
- A citizen of the Unites States or has obtained legal work status.
- Must pass a detailed background investigation.
- Work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
