CJB Companies is Hiring an Area Manager Near Valdosta, GA

CJB Industries offers a wide range of chemistry services to meet the standards of quality, efficiency and reliability required by even the most-demanding customer. We assist our customers in producing products primarily for the agricultural industry. We help farmers get the most from their crops enabling all of us to have a safe, affordable food supply.  

We are looking for a Area Manager to lead and manage their team to safely and efficiently produce products meeting customer specifications while facilitating the training and development of team members and adhering to CJB “RITES”. He/she coordinates with the Plant Manager, Production Scheduling, Plant Operations team, Human Resources and Quality Control to coordinate an efficient, safe manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Safety/Environmental
    1. Actively manages Safety Health and Environmental issues daily.
    2. Responsible for investigating EH&S Incidents and Near Misses as well as determining root cause and implementing corrective actions
    3. Responsible for setting and maintaining high standards for housekeeping.
    4. Brings all safety / environmental concerns to the attention of the Plant Manager and/or the appropriate department manager immediately.
    5. Responsible for safely managing waste related to this area of responsibility.
    6. Works with other managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to create and maintain a safe work environment.
  2. Manufacturing
    1. Responsible for cost effectively meeting manufacturing and packaging output targets communicated in the Production Schedule.
    2. Responsible for the efficient management of CJB and temporary worker manpower,
    3. Responsible for accuracy of paperwork used to ensure inventory accuracy.
  3. Quality
    1. Responsible for ensuring good manufacturing practices are adhered to during production and ensuring materials meet customer specifications.
    2. Responsible for investigations of non-conformances as well as determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  4. Shipping and Receiving/Inventory
    1. Follows all work instructions outlined in QWI-3 (Manufacturing) and all other applicable plant policies and procedures.
    2. Responsible for maintaining and updating the shipping/receiving schedule, scheduling trucks for shipping, maintaining good relationships with trucking dispatchers, and confirming shipments on a regular basis.
    3. Accountable for accurate preparation of paperwork for shipments including Bills of Lading, MSDS, C of A’s, and packing slips.
    4. Accountable for ensuring all shipments comply with DOT regulations.
    5. Accountable for accurate counts and documented quantities of materials received on shipments.
    6. Accountable for maintaining an accurate representation of inventory in ERP System and for entering information into customer’s inventory systems.
  5. Reporting
    1. Working in conjunction with other managers, reviews and ensures the timely and accurate completion of the following reports daily:
      1. Production Schedule
      2. Shipping and Receiving Reporting
      3. Manufacturing and Packaging Sheets
      4. Time Card Review
      5. Yield Tracking
      6. Packaging Efficiency Tracking
  6. Reports Review
    1. Working in conjunction with other managers, reviews the following reports daily.
      1. Production Schedule
      2. Material Usage Reports
      3. Other reports as necessary
  1. Other Duties/Responsibilities
    1. Plans, posts, and manages daily work assignments for shipping/receiving and manufacturing employees
    2. Works with Production Scheduler to determine manpower requirements in relation to daily production requirements
    3. Works with Logistics Manager and Materials Planner to ensure proper raw materials are received and staged for production and packaging
    4. Responsible for proper maintenance and operation of the department’s equipment.
    5. Works with other managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to create and maintain a safe work environment
    6. Assists with inventory control as needed and/or requested
    7. Ensures 6S expectations are kept
    8. Responsible for incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective & preventative actions within area’s operations
    9. Working with Inventory Control, ensures the accuracy of end of run counts
    10. Ensures quality packaging/shipping requirements are met
    11. Ensures manufacturing and packaging equipment cleanouts meet customer and FIFRA requirements
    12. When specific area’s production is not available, the Area Manager works with the Plant Leadership Team to ensure that both themselves and their team have productive, value-added work available.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The GH Area Leader supervises all shipping, receiving, and manufacturing personnel related to a specific production area at the Gil Harbin facility. 

Collaboration Expectations: 

Shared resources, including Maintenance, Production Scheduling, Materials Planning, Inventory Control, and the QC Laboratory will continue report to managers in those respective department, but will also support this area’s operations.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: 

BS/BA in related field preferred but not required. Minimum of 5 years of experience building, leading, and directing team members in a manufacturing environment required. Work Keys Assessment required.

Language Skills: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Bills of Lading, Purchase Orders, SDSs, manufacturing sheets, and packaging sheets. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and visitors.

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret bar graphs. Ability to read and interpret scales.
