DESCRIPTION OF JOB SCOPE
QA supervisor is a seasonal employee in the quality control department. This role is a critical member to our operations team and is responsible to assist the quality assurance manager in the planning, implementation, and oversight of all quality assurance and quality control-related functions in all phases of plant operations. Provide the leadership to guide the manufacturing team in the development, maintenance, and improvement of all quality systems. To include : final inspection, in-process controls, supplier quality assurance, systems auditing, product testing, finished goods audit. Will measure and report quality performance. Ensure conformity to engineering and quality standards in compliance with sanitary, GMP (Good manufacturing practices), Federal, State, and local food protection standards, and Classic Salads programs. This position has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, and compliance with all appropriate legal requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103. TRN-104. TRN-105. TRN-1061.
- Assist Qa manager in maintaining an effective and compliant HACCP program with all regulatory and company defined food safety and sanitation standards systems.
- Be an active member of the HACCP and food defense teams to ensure food safety and quality are identified and maintained. further guidance.
- Provide all QC shift leaders and QC technicians with training and direction to ensure they can execute their assigned responsibility and when additional testing and sampling is required.
- Ensure all scientific and measuring equipment are calibrated and accurate for intended purpose and use.
- Collect, review accuracy, and store in an organized manner all daily quality assurance record and reports and ensure they conform to related specifications and requirements, including tranferring data into Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
- Ensure that necessary records and reports are filed.
- Review and maintain all required documentation in an organized manner during internal and external audits.
- Provide support in raw product quality attributes and finished product sensory shelf life evaluations.
- Support the hold-and-release program for raw materials and finish products.
- Assist QA manager with plant regulatory, customer, and third-party audits by giving tours, explaining plant programs, and reviewing documents with auditors.
- Maintain supplies and equipment inventory and SDS / MSDS.
- Provide training on food safety topics to plant-wide employees and ensure food safety and quality parameters are met.
- Manage special projects as required.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, wet / rain suit, apron, etc.
- Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Able to work under pressure and time.
- Able to work in a cold / wet environment (34 - 36 °F Degrees).
- Report all injuries and incidents big or small
- Assist QC manager in personnel matters such as time / attendance scheduling, and investigating and reporting all incidents, injuries, and disciplinary actions.
- Makes decisions regarding product quality in the absence of Quality manager.
EDUCATION AND / OR WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Associate's degree with food science, agriculture, or related discipline is highly desired. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in produce quality assurance or related field, Knowledge of Primus GFS food safety audit scheme, HACCP, GMP, testing procedures, and microbiology. HACCP certification is highly preferred. Bilingual (English, Spanish) a must. Demostrated knowledge or experience in required computer applications Microsoft Office. Demostrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates. Ability to manage priorities and workflow within contantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Preferred to travel with the company to Yuma Arizona during winter months (November to March)
