DESCRIPTION OF JOB SCOPE
Quality Control Raw Material Inspector is an employee in the Quality Control Department. Quality Control Raw Material Inspector is responsible for inspecting all incoming raw materials for adherence to appropriate Classic Salads Quality Specifications on file. This position has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103, TRN-104, TRN-105, TRN-1061.)
- Complete Classic Salads Quality Standard Operating Procedure Training (CS-SOP-5010, CS-SOP-5011. CS-SOP-5021. CS-SOP-042. CS-SOP-6021.CS-SOP-6062.
- Calibrate scale and thermometer. Document calibration.
- Collects samples of raw materials for visual inspection.
- Inspects all incoming raw materials against specifications (quality attributes, visual defects, field tag verification, organoleptic, etc.).
- Notifies the QA Supervisor of any raw material deviations from specifications.
- Completes document inspection on Raw Material Inspection log and files accordingly.
- Compares Receiving Log to Raw Material Log to ensure all incoming raw materials have been inspected.
- When called by the Receiving Department, inspects incoming trailers for condition at arrival.
- Assists with HOLD products. Has the authority to place any raw material on HOLD that does not comply with Company quality specifications. Notifies the Production Supervisor and QA Supervisor immediately.
- Assist QA Supervisor to support the Hold and Release Program for raw materials and finished products.
- Verifies that all FieId Tag or Harvest Tag are received according to customer requirements and meet specifications. Requests missing or incomplete tags and follows up to ensure they are provided in a timely fashion.
- Participates in sensory training and evaluation to help ensure the highest quality of our products.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace.
- Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
- Cross-train to perform tasks of QC Technicians if necessary (Trim Line, Pack Out, Clamshell, Vaccum Tube, and Dock QC Stations).
- Perform any other QC task as necessary.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield. gloves. slip resistant shoes. wet / rain suit. apron.
- Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Able to work under pressure and time.
- Able to work in a cold / wet environment (34 - 36 °F Degrees).
- Verify raw receiving documentation (COA, Load Tag) according to CS-SOP-6021
- Verify raw receiving truck cleanliness and document.
- Communicate in a professional manner with raw material vendors using e-mail, phone, etc.
- Report all injuries and incidents big or small.
EDUCATION AND / OR WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Produce Quality Assurance or a related field preferred. Abliity to speaks, read, and write in Spanish. Ability to read and comprehend simple English instructions. Demonstrated knowledge or experience in required computer applications Microsoft Office. Ability to manage priorities and workflow within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Preferred to be able to travel with the Company to Yuma Arizona during winter months (mid-November to end of March).
