About the role:

The Data Specialist maintains, coordinates and monitors all data related to educational programs and services. Responsible for the success of multiple data systems. Provides technical support and systems administration, maintains strong relationships and communication with key partners. Ensures integrity and quality assurance standards for all departmental data., assists with troubleshooting and training for ease of use for all stakeholders and database system users.

What we want you to do:

Data Administration & Integrity

  • Enters and maintains information in all educational database systems including COPA, TS Gold, e-DECA, Airtable, ChildPlus,; designs databases in accordance with end users' information needs and views 
  • Compiles and gathers data from a variety of sources and enters information into the appropriate database system 
  • Defines database users and enables appropriate data distribution 
  • Assists with quality control for all data within database systems; examines data for changes or errors; locates and eliminates duplicate entries or resolves access issues 
  • Assists with data audits and provides reports to end users or stakeholders 
  • Performs tests and evaluations to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity 
  •  Monitors database performance, implements changes, and escalates issues to the Sr Manager of Data and Evaluation 
  •  Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and governmental regulations 
  • Participates in data collection activities, including administering standardized child assessments
  • Conducts CLASS™ observations in classrooms at Educare Denver and in the Denver area 
  • Collects parent and staff survey data, which may involve preparing interviews, in-person visits to drop off and collect surveys, and telephone follow-up 
  • Meticulously adheres to policies to protect the confidentiality of human subjects participating in evaluation studies

Program Administration & Employee Training

  • Aware of Head Start performance standards and monitors requirements to ensure timely completion of goals    
  • Provides general administrative support to the program team such as creating reports, assisting with analyses and data visualization, drafting correspondence, and other special projects 
  • Assists with the training and troubleshooting of employees with database systems; provides on demand training and troubleshooting  
  • Creates and disseminates relevant information to all department staff and supplies monthly scheduled reports. 
  • Assists with updating program related policies and procedures; distributes new policies and procedures within the organization 
  • Creates information and presents data during meetings, trainings and conferences for early childhood professionals; attends meetings, workshops and conferences related to educational data matters   

What we are looking for and what you must have:

  • Knowledge of data collection and external education databases and reporting systems with the ability to communicate and share knowledge and information with a variety of levels 
  • Ability to extract educational data for different reporting and grant proposals 
  • Commitment to maintain the integrity of data that contains Personally Identifiable Information and/or Protected Health Information  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills  
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills 
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain and organize documents and files 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn a variety of software and systems 
  • Experience with office equipment with the ability to troubleshoot 
  • Bachelor's degree in child and Family Development, Research Methods, Child Assessment, Sociology
  • Current PPD-TB and physical examination
  • Successfully pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background checks
  • Pass a National Sex Offender Registry Check
