We are looking for a board certified Health Coach to join us on an ongoing contract basis with the potential to become a full-time employee. This is a high impact role that involves working in partnership with our Clinical Team and with patients suffering from chronic pain. As a member of the Care Team, you’ll support patients in staying on track with their treatment plan and identifying and making progress towards health and wellness goals that empower them to live better, happier, and more intentional lives. 

What You’ll Do:

• Meet with patients through video and phone visits to review progress with their treatment plan (remote therapeutic monitoring), and focus on health and wellness coaching conversations that lead to goal-setting and forward action 
• Engage with patients empathetically, demonstrating positive regard, respect and understanding for where they are on their journey
• Guide patients to articulate their “relief” (wellness) vision
• Partner with patients to develop awareness of their habits, wins and strengths, and help them identify behavioral shifts to move them towards their goals
• Apply health coaching skills, competencies and theories such as open-ended questions, reflections, motivational interviewing, stages of change (Transtheoretical Model), appreciative inquiry, Social Cognitive Theory and Self-Determination Theory
• Coach behavioral change in different lifestyle areas that relate to chronic pain such as diet/nutrition, physical activity, stress and sleep
• Advocate for patients to be the empowered experts on their bodies, minds and circumstances
• Use broad knowledge of health and wellness to help patients navigate a variety of health issues
• Facilitate SMART goal-setting, and hold patients accountable to their goals
• Message with patients in between synchronous visits to assist with challenges, respond to questions and/or celebrate successes as they arise

What We’re Looking For:

• Board certification through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (must have)
• 2 years experience at a digital health technology company (must have)
• 2 years of phone and/or video coaching experience at a digital health company (must have)
• Embody high emotional intelligence with a patient-centered, eager-to-help approach
• Strong ability to empathize with chronic pain sufferers
• Strong writing skills, tone, spelling and grammar, appropriate to our messaging guidelines
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail and quality
• Able to effectively balance attention to detail with efficient execution in a startup environment that’s consistently changing
• Ability to work Monday-Friday East Coast hours
• Open to being featured on our website and/or marketing materials 

What will make you stand out:

• Education in chronic pain
• Experience coaching chronic pain patients/clients
• Other board certifications for health coaching through organizations like the International Coaching Federation 
• Clinical credentials such as a nurse (LPN, RN) or medical assistant

The hourly rate for this role is 27-30 $/hr. Exact compensation and structure will be determined based on your role, location, skills, and level of experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
