GENERAL STATEMENT
This senior role is an essential member of the leadership team and responsible for positively impacting financial results and the overall success of the business. This role provides strategic direction, leadership and accountability for engineering and R&D globally within our target markets. This senior leadership role is focused upon the continual improvement of product competitiveness and the realization of customer value. These goals are achieved through design optimization, resource leveraging, product and process standardization and improvement and development of global engineering leadership that exemplifies these principles. The incumbent will also lead all technology and product development programs to achieve defined growth targets. The successful position holder has strong leadership, technical, and communication skills. The person in this role will create and lead a culture of innovation, talent and disciplined practices and processes.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead new technology investigations and development.
- Drive technical innovation for product differentiation and profitability.
- Lead the up-front technical assessment for potential projects with consideration for organizational capability and engineering capacity.
- Manage engineering processes and systems including product documentation, CAD systems, and analytical tools.
- Direct engineering personnel in formulating plans, designs, cost estimates and specifications starting at the concept phase through final customer approval for all systems.
- Accountable for meeting all product standards and specs for on-time and on or under budget products and technologies designed and manufactured.
- Align with management team to understand product rationalization processes and new product initiatives.
- Solicit feedback from the broader organization including product management, sales, service, operations and finance to define product quality standards and monitor performance.
- Set realistic, challenging and clear goals for oneself and team while driving high performance, including celebrating and rewarding successes and addressing under performance in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required. Master’s degree in engineering and/or MBA preferred.
- 5 years management experience in a global business with technology-based products.
- 10 years of experience developing technically complex products.
- Development of electro-mechanical automation systems highly desirable.
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time (including international travel).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a largely sedentary role; however, the employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
