Mon-Friday 9am-1pm
SUMMARY: Act as a member of outpatient behavioral healthcare team to coordinate, facilitate, perform and observe urine toxicology testing of patients.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Perform urine toxicology specimen retrieval following program procedures including strict adherence to protocols for testing same or differing genders.
- Provide high level of professional service including demonstration of respect for patients' privacy and creation of an atmosphere of dignity and patient safety. Interact with patients and staff in a professional and respectful manner
- Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing. Assure chain of custody compliance prior to submission for testing.
- Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols to affect highest quality patient care.
- Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials following purchase policies.
- Complete data entry requirements as may be required by program.
- Schedule patient UAs from using data gleaned from EMR and disseminate information to supervisor.
- Assure patient confidentiality in accordance with 42 CFR and HIPAA.
- Collaborate with supervisor and team members to address quality of service issues and to implement internal quality improvement projects or monitoring.
- Maintain and update technical knowledge skills by actively participating in supervision and attending in-service instructions.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of one year work experience in a clinical, medical, residential, office, or similar work environment as a member of a work team.

- Ability to maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with individuals diagnosed with substance use or co-occurring conditions.
- Ability to utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with patients, co-workers, community resources, supervisors, and various other individuals encountered in the course of performing work while maintaining patient confidentiality and establishing professional rapport.
- Ability to operate a computer, utilize basic MS Office programs, and effectively navigate and maintain patient records in an electronic medical records system.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.
- Crisis prevention certification (such as CPI) within 90 days of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to apply critical elements of Standard Precautions. This includes personal protective equipment and following safety procedures while interacting directly with patients and working in a laboratory environment, including handling of laboratory specimens and laboratory equipment.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to perform Basic Life Support for 15 minutes continuously and maintain BLS certification.
- Must be able to operate a personal computer, including reading from a computer monitor, keyboarding, and using a mouse.
- Must be able to reach, bend, and handle objects.
