What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Cole Dermatology?
Fast-paced, four provider dermatology practice seeks full time, in-office medical biller/claims specialist. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of both billing procedures and A/R cycles , as well as the ability to effectively communicate with both patients and insurance companies. High school diploma and at least two years billing experience required. AAPC certification is a plus.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Input and verify patient insurance coverage
*Utilize electronic medical record software for data entry and verification
*Review and submit claims to insurance carriers through our EHR software
*Follow up on claim payments and denials within standard billing cycle timeframes
*Post insurance and patient payments received via mail and electronically
* Intraoffice and patient point of contact for all billing related issues
* Patient accounts receivable management, including preparing/sending patient statements and pre-collection actions
* Obtaining prior authorizations if needed prior to surgery
* HIPAA knowledge and compliance
*Communication with management informing of any discrepancies in claim adjudication, contract provisions, and/or rates schedules
*This position will require in-depth knowledge and skillset to effectively research and problem solve in order to resolve claims with commercial and government payers
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 34 – 40 per week
